Montezuma Fibre Co. (1906-1916)
The mill converted harvested flag (cattails) from the swamp into pulp to manufacture a heavy weight paper used to make boxes for shipping crates. The flag known as "Montezuma Wheat," grew wild on the 20,000 acres of swamp now part of the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge.
